Silver Cloud is a hierarchical replacement for the Macintosh Chooser which simplifies finding and selecting network resources such as printers, modems, servers, etc. It includes the ability to organize AppleTalk zones into hierarchical zone folders, to create device folders containing convenient aliases for favorite devices, and to save configurations for use in the future or on multiple networks.
Commercial & Shareware version differences
This shareware version of Silver Cloud is different from the commercially available version. The shareware version does not come with the Network Manager administrative tool which provides the network manager the means to present and control consistent, simple "views" of the network which ultimately appear in the "Chooser". The shareware version includes a shareware dialog screen that will appear each time Silver Cloud is used, as long as it is unregistered. Other than these differences, the shareware version is identical to the commercial version.
Getting Started
Drag Silver Cloud into the desk accessory folder within your system folder. Open Silver Cloud and it will scan your network for AppleTalk zones. The lower left window in Silver Cloud is the zone window. You can create new zone folders and new device folders within the zone window. You can drag frequently accessed zones into the zone folder and drag frequently used devices into the device folder. It's that simple. Now rather than scroll through long lists of zones or devices, you can limit your choices to those that you use most frequently. Your configuration is saved within the Preferences folder as the file named Silver Cloud Preferences.
System Requirements
Silver Cloud works with any Macintosh Classic or higher, including PowerBooks and Quadras. The Macintosh must be running System 6.0.5 or higher (Silver Cloud is System 7 compatible).
Registering And Paying For Silver Cloud
This program is Shareware, which means that if you use it, you should pay a shareware fee for each computer on which it is used. The US$20 single user price, shown in the Register program, decreases as the number of copies being purchased increases.
Use the Register program that is bundled with this software to fill out the registration form and send (Email, Postal Mail or FAX) it to our distributor, Kagi Shareware. They accept a variety of payment forms (checks in US dollars, cash from a variety of countries, credit cards, First Virtual, and for those of you with Accounts Payable Departments, an Invoice). The output from the Register program details where to send the payment. Questions concerning payments should be sent to Kagi Shareware at <shareware@kagi.com>.
After you send in your payment, you will receive a registration number that will disable the shareware message that appears each time you open Silver Cloud.
About the Commercial Version of Silver Cloud
The commercial version of Silver Cloud addresses network administrator needs for centralized control of Silver Cloud network views. After a one time install of the Client Package Init on each user's Macintosh, the administrator can install and update Silver Cloud from their Macintosh without user participation.
Conversion from the shareware version to the commercial version of Silver Cloud with administrative features is available. Please contact <info@aggroup.com> for details.
